Creepy Crawl - Cow Killer Wasp (1998)
Creepy Crawl 'Cow Killer Wasp'
Creepy Crawl was a Japanese nu metal band active from 1994 to 2000, emerging during the global rise of the genre. Known for their dark, heavy sound and emotionally charged performances, they became one of the most intriguing names in Japan’s underground metal scene. Their music featured downtuned guitars, distorted bass grooves, and anguished vocals, creating a dense and intense atmosphere typical of late-90s nu metal.
The band consisted of Gucci (vocals), Bashiko (guitar), Jun (guitar), Oku-chang (bass), and Hidelow (drums), all performing under pseudonyms. They reportedly began as a side project in the local alternative scene and even opened for Limp Bizkit during the band’s first tour in Japan.
Their debut album, Cow Killer Wasp (1998), showcased their raw, underground sound with original compositions emphasizing rhythmic intensity and emotional darkness. In 1999, they released Freash Zombi, which included the single “Gush”, several remixes, and a cover of Mötley Crüe’s “Shout at the Devil”, demonstrating a slightly more experimental and refined approach while retaining their signature heaviness.
After this release, the band disappeared from the public eye and is believed to have disbanded around 1999 or 2000. Despite their brief career, Creepy Crawl has become a cult name in Japanese nu metal, remembered for their authenticity, visceral sound, and the enigmatic aura surrounding them, representing a unique snapshot of the genre’s global influence in the late 1990s.

Ambiossis - Snapcase (2005)
Ambiossis 'Snapcase'
Ambiossis was a nu metal / crossover band from the Netherlands, active in the early to mid-2000s. Their sound mixed heavy grooves, melodic textures, and emotional intensity, influenced by bands such as Korn, Deftones, System of a Down, Soulfly, and Incubus.
The group was officially formed in late 2003, after several members, Clint (vocals), Mike (drums), Flip (guitar), and Robin (bass), had played together under the name Point Blanc while trying to develop their own musical style. When Remy joined as a second guitarist in August 2003, their sound quickly took shape and Ambiossis was born.
The band’s name was conceived at the Lowlands Festival 2003, representing brotherhood, creativity, and friendship, the values at the heart of their music. Ambiossis emphasized expression and authenticity over trends, seeing music as their truest form of communication.
In February 2004, they recorded their first demo CD/EP, which helped them make a name within the Dutch alternative metal community. Their only full-length release, “Snapcase” (2005), captured their mature nu metal sound, a mix of aggression, atmosphere, and emotion.
Though their time together was short, Ambiossis remains a hidden gem of the Dutch underground scene, remembered for their raw passion and unity during the height of the nu metal era.

Buny - Chasing Roadrunner (1999)
Buny 'Chasing Roadrunner'
Hailing from Winter Park, Florida, United States, Buny was a five-piece nu metal / death groove band known for their intense energy and genre-blending sound. Mixing influences from death metal, rap, industrial, classic rock, and R&B, the group focused on one core principle, the groove is never sacrificed.
Their debut album, Chasing Roadrunner (1999), captured their signature mix of heavy riffs, melodic twists, and raw emotion. On stage, Buny delivered chaotic, high-energy performances, often joining the crowd in the pit. The band valued originality over imitation, believing music should always be felt, not just played.
Uncompromising and self-driven, Buny carved their own path through the late’90s underground, embodying the spirit of nonconformity, strength, and individuality.

Singlethreat - The Loudest Part of Silence (2004)
Singlethreat 'The Loudest Part of Silence'
Singlethreat emerged in the early 2000s in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, featuring Don MacIntosh on vocals, Fox Kevin on guitar, Derek Grint on bass, and James Lee on drums. Their sound blended nu metal and alternative rock, combining heavy riffs, intense melodies, and introspective lyrics.
In 2003, they released an early version of The Loudest Part of Silence with rawer production and several tracks that captured the band’s essence in the local scene. The official 2004 release brought refined production, new mixes, and additional songs, though two tracks from the 2003 edition were omitted to create a more cohesive album.
The record solidified Singlethreat’s identity, balancing aggression and melody, and has become their most representative work, earning a place as a cult classic in the Canadian underground nu metal scene.

Coilbox - 13 (2002)
Coilbox '13'

Coma - Coma (2004) [Ex. 22 Even]
Coma 'Coma'
Coma emerged as a new project formed by James, Eric, and Steve after the breakup of their previous band, 22 Even. Following some internal drama, Justin left the group, and James took on both vocals and guitar. Musically, Coma blends emotionally intense nu metal and post-hardcore elements, drawing inspiration from bands like Deftones, Glassjaw, Cold, and Mudvayne. The project retained the raw emotional depth of 22 Even, while exploring a darker, more aggressive, and cathartic sound.
